Who we are
Meet the founders
Darion D'Anjou
Co-Founder
Darion D'Anjou is an award-winning writer, director, AI creative architect, trainer, and speaker based in Atlanta, and a co-founder of AI MAKERS GENERATION. Through his studio, Darion D'Anjou, he delivers world-class creative and technical solutions for small and mid-sized businesses, Fortune 500 companies, and government organizations — including CNN, Coca-Cola, AT&T Time Warner, HBO, Disney, Marvel Studios, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Nike, and the CDC. His science-fiction short Pony screened and won awards at festivals in Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, London, and Berlin, and his one-take horror short Mommy has drawn over 1.8 million views online. As a visual effects trainer at Digital Domain — the multi-award-winning studio founded by James Cameron — he contributed to Academy Award– and Emmy-nominated productions including Spider-Man: No Way Home, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and HBO's The Last of Us. Darion now serves as a generative AI artist for Meta, where his generations were featured by Mark Zuckerberg during the 2025 debut of Meta Vibes.
Gheri Thomas
Co-Founder
Gheri Thomas is a classically trained fashion illustrator and designer, and a co-founder of AI MAKERS GENERATION. She holds a B.F.A. in Fashion Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she tutored peers in rendering and digital concept creation. Across more than a decade in practice she has spanned illustration, branding, and technical design — creating fashion flats for established brands and custom work for notable clients. Today Gheri blends that traditional foundation with generative AI image tools, merging human craft with machine-generated creativity to make emotionally resonant, distinctive work. Through her studio, the Gheri Thomas Collective, her philosophy is simple: creativity isn't just practiced, it's pushed to its edges. She co-founded AI MAKERS GENERATION to help other artists cross that same bridge — to treat AI not as a threat to their craft, but as a new brush to build with confidently.

You make film work every week, and the room critiques it — your peers and working film professionals both. Questions
The things people ask
Do I need any experience with AI or coding?
No. We teach every level, and most people arrive having only tried ChatGPT a few times. The cohort application asks where you're starting from — there are no wrong answers.
What does each thing cost?
Film Bar AI is free, every Tuesday. Parking is free too.
Workshop Wednesdays are ticketed. Each event is listed on Luma with its ticket price — grab a ticket there to reserve your seat.
The October Film Cohort is $800, paid in full when you enroll.
Can I pay the cohort tuition in installments, or leave a deposit?
No. Tuition is $800 and must be paid in full — we don't take partial payments, and we don't hold seats with a deposit. You pay securely by card when you apply.
If that's a barrier, come to Film Bar AI on a Tuesday and talk to us in person.
Do I have to attend the workshops in order?
No. Every lesson stands alone. Join chronologically or sporadically — the curriculum compounds into a working portfolio either way.
What do I bring?
To Film Bar AI: yourself. A laptop if you feel like it.
To a Workshop Wednesday or a cohort session: a charged laptop.
Is there homework in the cohort?
Yes — every week, submitted at the start of each in-person session for peer critique and professional feedback. It's the part that works.
Will this get me film work?
We won't promise that, and you should be skeptical of anyone who does. The cohort prepares you: you leave with a finished film, an AI filmmaking pipeline you own, and craft fundamentals held to a working professional's standard. What you do with them is yours.
How do I join the community?
The WhatsApp group is where the conversation lives between events, and there's a Facebook group too. Both are linked in the footer. Makers can also sign in to the community site for resources, events, and the AI Maker Bot.
What if I miss a cohort Saturday?
The enrollment form asks. In a four-week intensive, missing one is workable; missing two or more means you'd get more out of the Winter cohort. Tell us honestly and we'll talk it through.
